  • WiiCade originally launched on November 19th, 2006. You'll recognize that date because it was indeed the same day the Nintendo Wii launched. We had originally banked on the idea that the Opera Browser would launch with the Wii. Unfortunately that was not the case. Nonetheless, we launched without a hitch. The original team consisted John Eysman [DrDredle], David Stubbs [davekilljoy] and Aaron Worrall [NegativeOne]. John is in charge of the back end/programming, David is in charge of the front end programming and Aaron is in charge of creating Flash games as well as acquiring them.
As time went on, we went through a couple of servers. Only a few days after launch, we were kicked off of our first server, and had to migrate as fast as possible to our current provider. Two months later, on January 19th 2007, we introduced a revised version of WiiCade, dubbed V2. It included a visual update to better fit the Wii browser's resolution, as well as Upload, Profile Pages, Favorite Games and Search functionality.
Not long after, a man by the name of Jerason Banes [jbanes], came aboard as the 4th member of the WiiCade team. He introduced the groundbreaking WiiCade API, which revolutionized independent Wii Flash games forever. With the extended functionality offered by the API, as well as the intuitive site around which it revolves, WiiCade continues to make a strong impact on the Wii fanbase, as well as the Flash gaming scene as a whole.
